SMGM’s tribute to National Dance Week continues. Time to bring on some of the real thing.

At barely 5-feet tall the amazing Janelle Monae has gone on to become one of pop music’s biggest stars, as well as an actress (in Hidden Figures and Moonlight), CoverGirl spokesperson, graphic novelist, and professed believer in time travel. But back in 2010 she slid and shimmied her way across a figurative tightrope in dashing James Brown fashion to catapult her career with this, the first single off her debut LP, The ArchAndroid.

This is Monae making magic. So show me the Monae.
